Photocase Growth Spurt

4. Jan. 2009 - Comments 0

There comes a time in the life of every website when they outgrow their servers. We imagine this happens at Google once a week, at Flickr every few days and at YouTube they probably have a guy whose job it is to just sit at the nearby electronics shop and swipe his credit card every half hour or so.

Photocase, as you know, is a little more discerning when it comes to what makes it on our servers, so it takes us longer than usual to outgrow our capacity. We were recently creeping close to the "max fill" line and so we went out and bought 4 new servers, each with an 800gb capacity. This new 3.2 terabyte capacity will house all our current photos, as well as all the new photos we receive every day.

This new dedicated system will reduce the load on our web servers and improve the overall performance of the site too.
