For the past 7 years, Photocase has been the place that photographers and designers came when they wanted to take part in something different, something new. When it came to style and imagination, we always offered more. With our latest update, we are going to do more than ever before. While lots of things are changing, it’s still the same Photocase that you know and love.
The biggest changes that people will notice first will be the pricing and license changes. We chose to update these so that they would more accurately reflect not only the effort put into creating the photos, but also the benefits that our users were getting out of using the photos commercially. We’ve also listened to everyone who had a suggestion or complaint and we’ve incorporated many of these comments into modifications and upgrades to the existing functionality of the site.
But, less talk and more action, right? Grab a snack and start in on our list of the bigger changes that we’ve made to Photocase:
-more self-reliance: now you can access your invoices for the purchases you made, as well as payouts for payments received on the My Photocase Account page.
- more records: as a downloader/buyer you will find more information about your downloaded images on the My Downloads and Licenses page. As a photographer we offer a more detailed breakdown of your income on your Income and Downloads page.
- more accuracy: the number of keywords you can add to your photo when finalizing or editing is now restricted to a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 16.
- more pixels: there is a new minimum photo size. All photos must be a minimum of 2000 pixels on the longest side. A 6 year old 3.2 megapixel Olympus point-and-shoot satisfies these requirements, so don’t panic. See here for more.
-more data! Photographers will soon be able to see statistics on their photos. Information like monthly hits, referrers, search terms and visitor location can be accessed via a link on the photo detail page or in MyPhotocase > MyPhotos
-more choice: We now offer photos in three sizes: Small (up to 800x800 pixels), Medium (up to 3600x3600 pixels) and Large (anything above 4000x4000 pixels).
-more, um, choice: Prices are now adjusted to reflect the new sizes. Small photos now cost 2 credits, Medium photos cost 4 credits and Large ones will cost 6 credits.
-more flexibility: If you buy a small license, but realize you need a big one later, you can easily upgrade from your "My Downloads and Licenses” page and you will only have to pay the difference.
-more options: We’re offering you three new extended licenses. A merchandising license, a license for large-scale circulation and an omit citation license. Read more about them here.
-more answers: we’ve updated our FAQ and will continue to update it going forward. This is the new one stop shop for all your Photocase questions.
-more credits: photographers will get 6 credits for every approved photo, instead of the 5 you get now.
-more convenience: wouldn’t it be easier if you could just quickly copy and paste the citation for a photo you downloaded? We thought so. So we added it. On the download page you’ll see a text field with the proper citation — just like how the photographer wants to see it — so that you can easily just copy and paste it into your project.
-more time to create: Subscriptions are back and better than ever. Save money, save time. What more can we say? Buy a subscription. Click here.
-more transparency: Now you’ll be able to see who downloaded your photos and whether they used a paid credit or a free one. All this and more on your Download Overview page.
-more detail: speaking of your Download Overview page, now you can search in your download overview page too! Give the scroll-wheel on your mouse a well-earned rest.
